X-ray Insights: From an idea to a diagnostic revolution

In 2017, a study on the development and validation of a deep learning algorithm for diagnostics in ophthalmology came to the attention of Professor Falk Schwendicke, a dentist with over 15 years of experience. He became intrigued by the widespread potential of AI technology in healthcare and soon teamed up with Dr. Joachim Krois, from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Europe’s largest university hospital, to explore the possibility of utilizing AI to drive technological change in dental diagnostics.

2018

Professor Schwendicke and Dr. Krois began to develop an AI product to improve dentists' ability to identify and diagnose patient conditions

2020

dentalXrai GmbH was formed as a limited company

2022

DentalXr.ai GmbH was acquired by Align Technology, Inc. a global medical device company

2023

Align™ X-ray Insights was launched in Europe, with limited market release for select EU customers

Align™ X-ray Insights is intended to be used in conjunction with an evaluation by the doctor and should not be solely relied upon to make or confirm a diagnosis.
